Physicists: Their Education and Career Paths
Laura Merner, PhD, American Institute of Physics
The American Institute of Physics (AIP) collects data that explore secondary physics education in the US and employment paths for degree holders. Data will be reported from several AIP publications to discuss degree trends, education characteristics of recent bachelors, and post degree employment paths of recent bachelor’s degrees and PhD recipients. This includes information on starting salaries, employment sectors, fields of employment, and skills used by employed physicists at various career levels. It also examines job satisfaction concerning different aspects of employment.
