I would like to discuss a paper entitled "The roles of the formal and informal sectors in the provision of effective science education". Each person spends a small percentage of their lifetime in a classroom, with a fraction of that time devoted to science education. Many students also participate in some type of informal education program or setting, providing opportunities to learn science outside of the formal education system. This paper argues that reforms of science education should include contributions from and collaborations with the informal education sector.
