Over the past three months, CREATE for STEM director Joe Krajcik has been a guest contributor to the NSTA Blog, a daily column appearing on the website of the national Science Teachers Association (NSTA). Joe was approached by NSTA last fall with a request to contribute a guest column discussing disciplinary core ideas (DCIs), one of the essential components of the framework for Next Generation Science Standards.
Joe's response was so substantive that NSTA ran it as three separate entries that appeared in December, January, and February. Titled "What's So Special About Disciplinary Core Ideas?", these entries can be read on the NSTABlog site here, here, and here. They also appear in a single collection on the CREATE website here.
