On May 12, 2026, CREATE for STEM held it's 12th annual mini-conference at the MSU STEM Teaching & Learning building. We were excited to welcome our first mathematics scholar and researcher, Dr. Yasemin Copur-Gencturk, as keynote speaker this year!
And, for the first time ever, Lightning Talks (three minutes maximum) offered poster presenters a way to convey their research in 180 seconds or less. This new component to the conference was energetic, fun and a great kick-off to the day. We believe that researchers who have a short "elevator pitch" ready to go at any time is an extremely valuable skill; one that might lead to new collaborations, introductions, possible funding, and more.
Resources: below are the recordings of Dr. Copur-Gencturk's keynote talk, the discussion panel, the Lightning Talk presentations and Dean Jackson's welcome message. Click the link at the bottom of the page for the list of posters that were presented and the author information. We will share Yasemin's slide deck and a photo gallery of the day as soon as possible.
