Krajcik receives Honorary Doctorate from University of Tartu, Estonia

On December 1, 2022, Joe Krajcik was awarded a highly coveted Honorary Doctorate from the Estonian-language University of Tartu, which is turning 103 years old this year. 

This award, including a medal, is given to "meritorious, internationally recognized scientists, social and cultural figures who have helped to increase the authority of the University of Tartu and Estonian science in the eyes of the world public and who have stood out in the development of the University of Tartu's ties with other universities and research institutions around the world".  Joe was recognized for promoting research work related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics education and for collaborating with both researchers and doctoral students on international projects.  He began working with the University of Tartu back in 2004, when he was a professor of science education at the University of Michigan; he has organized seminars for Fulbright scholars, served on various committees, been a speaker at multiple events at the university, and reviews and evaluates articles authored by University of Tartu doctoral students. 

In addition to receiving the Honorary Doctorate, Joe also gave a public lecture titled "How can Artificial Intelligence Support STEM Teaching and Learning?".
