Congratulations to Ava Gjokaj, a student research assistant in the CREATE for STEM Institute, for winning the Education award (Section 3) at the 2025 UURAF forum! Her poster was titled "Characterizing high school physical science students' explanations for an assessment item requiring an understanding of electrostatics and energy". The background for the poster (co-authors Clare G. Carlson, Leonora Kaldaras and Mimi Tarter) points to the importance of high school physical science student's understanding of electrical interactions and energy.
The 27th UURAF took place at the MSU Breslin Center and online using the Symposium platform. Over 1,100 students from 14 different colleges participated at the annual showcase, who were mentored by over 700 faculty, staff, post-doctoral/graduate students, and government/industry partners.
