We are excited to announce the return of CREATE's SEED grants for individual or team research in STEM education/DBER/AI in education beginning this fall! It has been several years since this program has been offered; we couldn't be happier to support internal research that may lead to a larger project with outside funding.
Two awards will be made this year; one for $50,000 and one for $45,000.
To apply:
Applicants should submit a 1-3 page application which includes a list of collaborators (faculty members should be the lead; postdocs and graduate students are welcome to be part of the project team), a description of the research problems/questions being considered, an outline of early plans or potential avenues of approach to the research or collaboration, and a description of how seed grant funding will be used to advance the proposed work in budget format. We recognize collaborations may be at different stages of development. Please send materials to Joe Krajcik (krajcik@msu.edu) and Sue Carpenter (carpen16@msu.edu) by September 15, 2024.
*NOTE: WE ARE ASKING THAT YOU INCORPORATE A $2000 ACCOUNTING FEE LINE ITEM IN THE BUDGET. CREATE WILL PROVIDE ACCOUNTING SUPPORT FOR YOUR PROJECT.
A committee will review proposals after September 15, and advise applicants accordingly as soon as possible after review. Initial timeframe for the project should be for one year, however, a year extension will be granted upon request and if needed to complete the work. An interim report will be requested; a final report will be required. In addition, we ask that you and your team present your work at the 2025 or 2026 Mini-Conference, held in May of each year.
Please let Joe or Sue know if you have any questions about the award or the process. We look forward to your proposals.
