National Conference Nov 12-15, 2025

NSTA will host the premier event for science and STEM educators in Minneapolis, MN this November.

The theme this year is "Innovating Science Education for All". Educators are invited to share their most innovative ideas, connect with passionate professionals and industry leaders, and gain fresh insights to spark creativity and elevate student engagement.

We're excited to share that Joe Krajcik will be leading an all-day workshop on Wednesday, 11/12 from 8:15-3:15pm, along with two former CREATE-ors. Tingting Li is now an Assistant Professor of Science Education at Washington State University, and Selin Akgun is now an Assistant Professor of Science Education at the University of Minnesota. The workshop is titled: Designing 3D Assessments in Partnership with Generative AI: A Hands-On workshop for Elementary and Middle School Educators.

On Saturday, 11/15 at 1pm, Dr.'s Krajcik, Li and Akgun will lead a one-hour workshop titled Let's Explore Student Sensemaking in Science! Practices and Curriculum to Support Elementary Students. Teachers explore six sensemaking practices (SP) on how to promote equity and sensemaking-oriented elementary science instruction.

And on Thursday, 11/13, from 2:20-4:20pm, Dr. Steve Bennett and doctoral student WeiWei He will lead a two-hour workshop titled How to Energize your Energy Lessons. Teachers learn the energy-sysgtems transfer approach and how to construct energy transfer diagrams (ETDs) to support students in tracking the flow of energy within and between systems.

We would love to see you at a CREATE for STEM session!
