*This year, we are going to vary the days (i.e. not always on Wednesdays) of our speaker series presentations to help accomodate schedules. Our goal is to make attending our events possible for the broadest number of colleagues.

Abstract: Dr. Vogel will share lessons from Computing Integrated Teacher Education (CITE), the initiative she directs to support faculty at the City University of New York (CUNY) to revise education courses and programs to equitably and meaningfully integrate computing and digital literacies, with the goal of reaching the 11,000+ Teacher Candidates (TCs) that graduate from CUNY every year, many of whom are or will become New York City teachers. She will discuss how her personal, academic, and professional experiences led her to these questions. She’ll highlight how research, inquiry, and inclusion have been at the center of CITE’s efforts, highlighting the roles and contributions of collaborators at Michigan State University.

Bio: Sara Vogel is a born-and-raised Brooklynite, educator, and education researcher focusing on computing-integrated learning environments and forms of teacher education that center bi/multilingual learners, their literacies, and communities.
