Dr. Clausell Mathis is an assistant professor at Michigan State University with a joint appointment in Lyman Briggs College and the Department of Teacher Education. He teaches physics and the senior capstone course at Lyman Briggs College. His research incorporates culture-based equitable approaches in the classroom, leveraging students' cultural resources to connect with physics phenomena. Dr. Mathis earned his Ph.D.
Aman Yadav is the Lappan-Phillips Professor of Computing Education in the College of Education and College of Natural Science at Michigan State University with extensive experience in research, evaluation and teacher professional development. His research and teaching focus on improving student experiences and outcomes in computer science and engineering at the K-16 level. He leads several projects that design, implement and assess how professional learning experiences can support teachers to bring computational tools and practices to support their disciplinary teaching.
Steve Bennett is a Research Associate on the "Supporting High School Students in Constructing Quantitative Knowledge-in-Use of Energy" project at CREATE for STEM. This project builds on prior work with middle school students and focuses on developing instructional materials and assessments for high school physics. The goal is to enhance students' quantitative energy knowledge-in-use through a project-based learning approach grounded in a systems-transfer and fields model of energy and energy conservation.
